These NEW replacement grommets are for the Royal Portable, commonly called the Royal P -- and only for the first year production 1926 typewriters, and part of the 1927 machines. These are called "first generation" Model P typewriters, with serial numbers probably not surpassing P10000.These were a very early sub-variation of the first generation model. They were distinct from later Model P's in a few ways. One of the unique characteristics was that rather than having four feet on the four corners of the machine frame, this machine had two in the back, and two in the front corners. This also means that the screws for the case can't mount into the frame itself, rather they fit through the grommet style feet, and screw into a threaded washer type fastener. These washer parts are easy to lose, but for those who need them, here are the replacement rubber grommets. Accompanying pictures show how the grommets fit into these four corner holes of the typewriter frame. Then the typewriter sits on the bottom board, with the rubber feet on the bottom of the board. A screw slips through the center hole from the bottom of the feet, through the board, through the grommet, and then is secured by the threaded washer. NOTE: The Bolts, rubber outer case feet, and washers are NOT included, only the rubber grommets pictured. These grommets are a tight fit for the holes on the bottom of the typewriter. You will have to press them in. I found it easiest to start about 1/4 of each grommet into the hole, spin it a bit, then use a small screwdriver (or similar tool) to poke it in one bit at a time. Make sure they sit flat on both sides of the frame. The rubber is flexible, but it will take an effort to install. Once installed, however, you will notice an immediate improvement to the typing quality of the machine.
