This 1959 Tower Typewriter belongs in a museum! Full working order, add ink and you’ll be typing like it’s 1959! This is the Olympia De Luxe SM3. This is a German-made portable typewriter. Judging from the serial number, it is believed to be from around 1959. The typewriter had malfunctions due to age-related deterioration and missing parts, so we disassembled it as much as possible and repaired the problems.
This is a QWERTZ keyboard layout. Most notably, the left shift key is missing but it still work. It is encased in a hard wood and leather wrapped carrying case. Erika typewriters always had a good reputation for producing excellent typewriters at the higher end of the market.
